09.19.12

We started doing Creole for school today.  The kiddos are pretty tenative to want to do it when asked; however, when we start doing it they are all smiles with the success that they find themselves having as well as with the realization that they are actually talking in another language!  It was pretty fun to watch and see.  It really is amazing how much they are picking up just from listening to the people around them talk.  They will say things and I find myself asking them, “What did you say?”  I knew that this would happen, but I am jealous of their little brains!

Gracie was up so early this am-5am!  The “big D” has hit three of us now for sure as she, Toby and I all have it :(  Not so good...

I spent a good part of the morning and early afternoon talking with Nick and Nikki.  It was good just to have a chat with them and just really hear their hearts.  We talked about my role...just me not feeling ready and them really supporting family.  Nick gave me like an hour tour of the database and you could just tell he could have gone on and on for hours just on that!

Addy got bit today by Jennie Flore :(  She came back with Brooke from playing and was just crying.  She did have teeth marks too...it is so hard to help her to understand that those kids don’t know better yet have her be at an age where she is pushing the boundaries and toeing the line to see how much she can get away with before she is reigned back in.  Thankfully, Addy girl is really tough and quick to forgive.  Although, lately I have been saying, “It’s ok...”  to which she quickly and loudly replies, “It is NOT ok!”  Guess it gets me even more excited about all of the good moments I find the kiddos having--Today Karys, Addy and Elijah were just having the best time with the iPad playing games and watching videos.  I wish I could have videotaped their silliness and their laughter!

Because Gracie wasn’t feeling well I stayed back with her from Creole so she could have quick bathroom access and Toby could nap.  We spent most of the time picking up and cleaning to get ready for the guests we were having :)  the Aubry’s came for supper!  It was so fun to have friends come and share a meal.  I would say this is one of the main things we miss from home!  We were always calling the Brenneman’s or other friends to try to eat together and just share life and catch up on our week’s while we shared a meal and the kids played together!  Fellowship is a good thing-and living in community here you really do have the opportunity to do that, but it is nice to have friends outside of COTP who you can laugh with, talk life in Haiti with and who have kids to play with as well!

I had made PB cookies for dessert too and Nick and Nikki even thoughtfully stopped and grabbed me some more eggs from a local village!  It was so GREAT and I was so appreciative...I had called them earlier to see if I could borrow on and no one had one here, so they took a little family trip on the moto and went and grabbed some!  LOVE IT!

It really was a great day...yes, we are a little under the weather, but we shared food with friends, baked cookies and really did see the little things that God blesses us with here in community!

As we were tucking her in, Karys said that the worst part of her day was having to listen.  Ha!  Sometimes I think that is where I am too.  I just want to rebel...stay in my bed or just journal or blog or be mindless most of the day.  But that is not being obedient to the voice of God.  There is a time and space for all of those things...but God, may the best part of my day tomorrow be having to listen to you and rely on you for my every move and every decision!

Tomorrow is destined to be a good day anyway...it’s MAIL DAY!!!
