This morning we headed off to the Mont Jolie with the Vander Pol's on kind of a last minute swimming trip. We were headed different places for the afternoon so we had to take 2 vehicles. All of the kids except Gracie wanted to ride in the tap-tap, so I guess you could say that Christina drew the short straw for riding in the back of the tap-tap with the kids, while Kirk drove and Rob, Gracie and I followed behind in the pick up. It was pretty fun to watch them all sit in the back and watch their faces at the car dipped and dodged along the road. It had rained the night before, so the best parts were when the low-riding vehicle went through a large puddle and water sprayed up in the back.
Once we got to town, Rob and I took the lead as the VP's hadn't been to the pool yet and weren't sure of the way. The Mont Jolie sits at the top of a VERY steep hill. When we got to the top of it, parked and got out we realized the tap-tap wasn't immediately behind us anymore. Soon it began to be visible over the peak of the hill so we felt at ease and began to get our stuff out. Soon you could hear the voices and calls coming from the back of the tap-tap. Karys got out and said, "We almost didn't make it alive-that is the scariest thing I have ever experienced." Karys is rather dramatic, this is not news to most...but the other kids and Christina looked a little pale and frightened as well. Apparently, the tap-tap had problems getting up the hill and it began to roll backwards towards the road at the bottom. Christina told me she was strategizing how she was going to hold on to the kids if indeed an emergency did arise and from her view point it very much looked like that was going to be the case! Thankfully, Kirk did get the car to shift and before they had time to really panic they were on their way back up the hill.

We finally got around to swimming and enjoyed a GREAT afternoon at the pool. I still wasn't trusting my stomach these days so I didn't swim, but had some time to put some new apps on the girls iPads and just enjoy time in the shade to rest and chat with the other adults :)
This was our 2nd time to this pool, and you could just tell they really felt at home and more comfortable to know where they could touch and how to swim around accordingly.
Rob obviously was enjoying the water and the sun, practicing his senior picture poses...And just being his crazy self :)
The girls took turns jumping (or being pushed) in to Daddy...
All in all we had another GREAT afternoon at the pool!
