Man, alive! I swear, the morning is Toby's busies time of the day! Feels like he just goes crazy seeing how much he can get into and terrorize! He broke a bottle of nasty juice on the porch, unrolled the toilet paper, and insists in playing in the "drip" water that falls into the makeshift bucket under our sink. Despite all of this the little man took another 4 hour nap today and I was able to get a lot done. The girls did a GREAT job of helping me get even more unpacked, washing all of the dishes that were left up in our place and matching up all of the tupperware with the partnering lids. It felt good to get rid of the stuff that was left up here that wasn't useful. I also got some more laundry done. It actually isn't bad at all if it doesn't build up--I am guessing that means I might end up doing a load or 2 every 2-3 days, but as of right now I think I prefer that over having the laundry ladies do it. I send Rob's clothes, all of our sheets and towels, and our misc. things. So that definitely helps! Especially Rob's shorts and stuff as they are just big and thick and take up a lot of room in the washer. The washer is just a tub that you fill up with water that turns and spins a little for 15 minutes. Once it is done you have to rinse everything out individually, wring each item, and hang it to dry. As of right now, I couldn't miss my dryer more. My clothes are stiff, stretched out and faded from this process.
On a better note, we had those AWESOME burritos today that we had in January while we were here. This is by far my favorite lunch...and my kids even all ate them! The are so GREAT! Homemade tortillas, refried beans, taco meat and a vegetable topping...how can you go wrong! I was BEYOND thrilled that the kiddos liked it and ate it! Meals are really, truly getting better in so many ways for us! AND we had a special treat to top it all off tonight! BANANA BREAD!!! Gracie, Addy and I had a GREAT time baking it and getting it all ready to be our bedtime snack!
While it was baking, Troy Livesay and a group of guys from Heartline Ministries in Port stopped by so we got to meet and talk with them a little bit. One of our kiddos here actually stayed for a month with the Livesays and so they were excited to hold him and get some pictures with him. The little one was so happy to see them...it really was PRECIOUS! Troy and a friend of his also told us how they were planning a run from Port to Cap this January and were going to be filming a documentary along the way. The friend is going to be the one running and basically is running a full marathon for 4 days in a row (26.2 each day) and then resting on the 5th day and continuing that cycle until he gets to Cap. That was the main reason for their trip-to plan out the route and seek out different non-profits to highlight along the way. What a CRAZY, AMAZING plan!!! And it was so fun to meet and talk with the guys who are planning it and actually running it! I don't know, to me it felt like I met a celebrity tonight. Troy is a GREAT guy who LOVES Jesus and has such a heart for Haiti. He and his wife and family are a part of a GREAT ministry that is running very successfully and serving a lot of women in the Port area. The crazy thing about all of it was that when he asked me where I was from and I told him Orange City, he told me that his wife Tara's mom is from OC and he has been to Tulip Festival a few times! Of course then all of the jokes of costumes and wooded shoes came out and it was about time for our banana bread to come out of the oven. But man...reminded again of what a small world this is.
The night ended with hanging up laundry and watching to lightning flash all around. Brooke and I had a GREAT heart to heart chat and again I found myself so thankful for this young woman :)
