Only 3 Meals a Day, Mom

Karys has made a GREAT friendship with one of the two older kids that we have living here at COTP.  The other day, Karys came in to make a PB sandwich for herself and asked if she could make one for her friend as well.  Of course, I thought...but this convo followed...

"KJ, are you worried about (your friend) having enough to eat?"
"Mom, are you serious?!?"
"I am, you seem to always be offering her food and you seem worried about what she is getting."
"Mom, seriously?!?  (She) only gets 3 meals a day!  That is it, Mom!  No snacks, no sweets, nothing. (which isn't entirely true ;)  I think that I can at least offer her a peanut butter sandwich.  She is after all a growing girl, Mom."
insert long pause here as I process what is going down right now and where my daughter has developed this thinking ;)
"You are right, Karys.  She is..."

"Karys..."
"Yeah, Mom."
"I love your heart.  You are a BEAUTY!"
Full smile...bright eyes...standing up a little taller...skip in her step as she walks away..."Thanks, Mom."
