Addy's First Day of Preschool

On October 15, so almost 6 weeks ago, Addyson started preschool here at COTP.  We had another Long Term Volunteer move down, Miss Tori, who came down to serve with us for three months and see if preschool would be a good fit for her or not.  She is doing a GREAT job!  The kids Addy goes to school with were, at one point, very used to going to preschool everyday.  But after the last teacher's time in Haiti ended they have been without a teacher for a few months.  Tori has her work cut out for her-she is required to come up with actives, plan lessons, be crazy, and be creative everyday to engage the kids and hold their attention to keep them from acting out.  Like I said, she is doing a GREAT job!  I know that she has had hard days, but she comes back the next day with a smile on her face ready for the challenge.

Enjoy these pictures of Addy's first day...she was so excited and so thrilled to go to school with her friends!  and while you do, join me in praying for Miss Tori and the other students in her class: Manno, Cyndi, Mickenson, Fred, and Christine.
Addy waiting outside of the baby house for Miss Tori.  Everyday, she and Addy walk over to get the other kids...
The kids then all come out and get their shoes on.  Then they find their ring on the rope and follow Tori down the sidewalk to school...
When they all hold on, and they all walk, and they all listen...it is a PRECIOUS sight to see them walking together!

Look at my girl on her FIRST day!  She is growing up so fast and just becoming so independent!  She could not have been more excited to go to school!
Miss Tori helps them get their shoes off and lined up by the wall.

Then, there is a sun painted on the floor and all of the kiddos find a triangle to sit on around the circle to start their day.

They started their first day with story time :)  Looks like it was girls on one side of the circle, boys on the other.

Addy never fights going to school!  She gets up and dressed in the morning, gets the snack ready, hugs me goodbye and is out the door (Brooke usually walks her to school).  I am so grateful for Tori and the other kiddos in her class.  She is able to have a school experience here and be social and have time just for Addy...and she LOVES it!  So excited to watch how they learn and grow together in the weeks and months to come!
